Two of the most discussed topics in the Vicenza area today are certainly the high-speed railway and the university. The approval of the final project for the second lot of the HS/HC line between Verona and Padua, concerning the crossing of Vicenza, provides an opportunity to think about regeneration measures for the neighbourhoods affected by the project. With a view to expressing an initial proposal for resolving the problems that the crossing of the new line brings with it and the so-called Vicenza 'university issue', this thesis deals with the drafting of a redevelopment project for the Ferrovieri district, located in the south-western outskirts of the city and which is the one most impacted by the high-speed line project. Starting from the new urban layout resulting from the existing project, it was decided to include new university facilities and functions in the district as the primary intervention of the redevelopment project, in the form of the university campus built in the disused area of the former Lanerossi combing plant, near the Arsenale railway freight yard. Accompanying the main intervention, the regeneration of the district is favoured by further forecasts involving, in particular, the expansion of the green lung represented by the Retrone Park and the urban reconnection of the district with those located north of the railway by means of specific connection works. The final project is realised following several phases of study of the Vicenza context, relating to the strategic role played by Vicenza in the broader national and international panorama, the study of the final high-speed project, the university in Vicenza and the territorial and urban context in which the district for which the regeneration is planned is located.

Abstract
The final project is realised following several phases of study of the Vicenza context, relating to the strategic role played by Vicenza in the broader national and international panorama, the study of the final high-speed project, the university in Vicenza and the territorial and urban context in which the district for which the regeneration is planned is located.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
