Background: Relation time is care time. Starting from the Deontological Code of Nursing Professions, and from an interest developed during the three-year degree course, we wanted to focus attention first philosophically and then empirically on the words related to the concept of care, on time and the different temporalities that mark care. The 2015 cross-sectional observational study (Rn4CAST@IT) investigated what the prevalences of missed care were, and placed in second and third place informing and educating the patient and family, and comforting and talking to the patient. If, therefore, care is also relationship and education, as stated in the nursing professional profile, we tried to focus the study by proposing a brief excursus from the Greek world to the present day on the concept of care, delving into the theme of time by identifying eight temporalities linked to care and reflecting on how and which words can fit into the time of care. Aim: From the point of view of the possibility of measuring care, the study focuses on the possibility of identifying within a reflection developed by the first-year students of the Degree Course in Nursing, what can be the human approach related to the analysis of the words of care and how much the relationship, and the different temporalities, influence the taking care of the other. Methodology: Using a qualitative phenomenological study, first-year Cli stu-dents' reflections on "taking care" were analyzed according to the Giorgi model. The sample of one hundred and four students reported three words that recalled their meaning, and then narrated a significant experience that occurred during their placement that could be linked to the meaning of the caring relationship in reference to time. The data were subdivided according to meaning and grouped into subject areas, and the structures and meanings of the experiences were described, giving examples for each classified macro-area. Results: The sample identified the feeling of empathy and listening that underpins the relationship as the main characteristics that develop care. The value and quality of the time one dedicates to the other are fundamental, as is the declination of the words of care, which include, as defined by Mortari (2015), the eight temporalities of attention, listening, speaking, understanding, emotional sharing, empathy, compassion and being there, because they make it possible to be aware that caring for ourselves and others is common to all, and is a founding part of being in the world. Conclusion: Therefore, a reflection on the temporality of nursing experiences in the experiences of approaching patients is essential from the very beginning of the training of every nursing student in order to lay the foundations, before acting, in being, qualitatively and professionally nurses. Read in an ethical sense, he who cares for himself is capable of caring for others in the world because every man relates to the other based on ethics and conscience. Responsibility in performing care makes it possible to identify the concept of care as a political act, i.e. a pivotal act on which the common good is based.
Background: Il tempo di relazione è tempo di cura.
