In particular, the political and philosophical debate that in these events has always occurred between those who thought they were witnessing the end of "Western civilization" (always many) and those who did not think it plausible. Part II) the current situation of the United States of America, with a focus on the two cycles - the institutional and socio-economic - that shape this country from time to time. Finally, how the United States - the new gravitational center of the Western world - dispels the spectre of a decline that is not coming.

I° parte) analisi storica soffermandosi sulle principali congiunture storiche per l'Occidente che hanno fatto presagire la sua fine (greci contro persiani, il collasso dell'Impero Romano; Prima e Seconda guerra mondiale). In particolare il dibattito politico e filosofico che in questi eventi è sempre avvenuto tra coloro che pensavano di assistere alla fine della "civiltà occidentale" (sempre molti) e coloro che non lo pensavano plausibile. II° parte) la situazione attuale degli Stati Uniti d'America, con un focus sui due cicli - quello istituzionale e socioeconomico - che di volta in volta plasmano questo paese. Infine come gli Stati Uniti - nuovo centro gravitazionale dell'Occidentale - allontanano lo spettro di un declino che non è alle porte.
