With the progressive depletion of fossil fuel reserves, the increasing energy demand associated with industrialization, and a growing sensitivity to climate change, the need to find safe and reliable alternatives to fossil fuels is becoming increasingly evident. Therefore, the creation of an alternative that can provide performance comparable to fossil fuels, is technologically and economically feasible, and, above all, compatible with existing fleets and infrastructure is necessary to ensure a smooth and cost-effective transition. In this paper, the use of biofuels blended with traditional fossil fuels will be discussed, which is currently the most promising path for improvement in the sector.
Con l’esaurirsi progressivo delle riserve di combustibili fossili, l’aumento del fabbisogno energetico legato all’industrializzazione e una crescente sensibilità nei confronti del cambiamento climatico, è sempre più evidente la necessità nel trovare alternative sicure ed affidabili ai combustibili fossili. Si rende quindi necessaria la creazione di un’alternativa, che possa garantire prestazioni paragonabili ai combustibili fossili, che sia tecnologicamente ed economicamente perseguibile, e soprattutto compatibile con flotte ed infrastrutture esistenti, al fine di non rendere traumatica e dispendiosa la transizione. In questo elaborato verrà discusso l’impiego di bio carburanti in blend con combustibili fossili tradizionali, ad oggi la strada più promettente per un miglioramento del settore.
