Femicide, the targeted killing of women because of their gender, is a pervasive and urgent issue in Mexico, with thousands of women murdered each year. This thesis, driven by my personal connection to the issue as a Mexican resident of Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, seeks to statistically analyze contextual factors influencing the incidence of femicide. The primary objective is to comprehensively understand the root of increasing femicide rates, particularly in Mexico, and identify potential solutions inspired by the results of the analysis conducted. Four variables, namely systematic violence, machismo culture, impunity, and public policies, will be examined to determine their correlation with femicide rates, utilizing new and existing indices and exploring the connections on both local and global scales. The research question guiding this study is: What is the impact of contextual factors on femicide rates in Mexico, and to what extent are these factors specific to Mexico?
