Benessere del tacchino durante le operazioni di carico e trasporto

The Farm to Fork strategy, a ten-year plan developed by the European Commission, includes particular attention to the welfare of farmed animals. Consequently, the European Commission has asked EFSA, the European Food Safety Agency, to produce an updated evaluation of the studies on the welfare of different species of farmed animals which consider both the farming phases and the transport/loading phases after the settlement. In 2022, EFSA therefore published a scientific opinion on the welfare of poultry and rabbit species specific to the post-breeding phases. This opinion, in addition to carefully describing the various welfare problems, suggests strategies to be adopted, both by the breeder and by the slaughter company, to eliminate or reduce the causes limiting the animal's well-being in the caring phases. In this context, this thesis considered the EFSA assessment with respect to turkey welfare at all pre-slaughter transport and loading stages.

La strategia Farm to Fork, piano decennale elaborato dalla Commissione europea, include un'attenzione particolare per il benessere degli animali in allevamento. Di conseguenza, la Commissione europea, ha richiesto all'EFSA, Agenzia Europea per la Sicurezza Alimentare, di produrre una valutazione aggiornata degli studi sul benessere delle diverse specie di animali allevati che considerano sia le fasi di allevamento che le fasi di trasporto/carico post -accasamento. In questo contesto, la presente tesi ha considerato la valutazione EFSA rispetto al benessere del tacchino in tutte le fasi pre-macellazione di trasporto e carico.
