Donna e adulterium nella Roma antica

Within the thesis I will initially deal with the condition of the Roman woman: how she was seen, her inferiority compared to men, her rights and in general her life within Roman society. Subsequently I will discuss adultery with reference above all to women, the various laws that were related to adultery and in particular the Lex Iulia de adulteriis. Finally, I will address the issue relating to the punishment of adulterous women, and the difference in treatment between women and men in the event of adultery.

All'interno della tesi tratterrò inzialmente della condizione della donna romana: come essa veniva vista, la sua inferiorità rispetto all'uomo, i suoi diritti ed in generale la sua vita all'interno della società romana. Successivamente tratterrò dell'adulterio in riferimento sopratutto alla donna, delle varie leggi che vi erano relative all'adulterio ed in particolar modo della Lex Iulia de adulteriis. Infine affronterò il tema relativo alla punizione della donne adultere, e la differenza di trattamento tra donna e uomo in caso di adulterio.
