Traducir para el alma: traducción de algunos fragmentos de 'Encuentra tu persona vitamina' al italiano

This thesis originates from the desire to explore the translation of self-help literature, the one that aims at leading its readers to see the world from a different perspective, to improve their self-esteem, to understand the wounds they carry and, indeed, to strive for their wellbeing. My paper explores the exciting world of the translation this genre, focusing on the translation of Marian Rojas Estapé's 'Encuentra tu persona vitamina'. The first chapter analyses in depth the theory of translation of scientific dissemination texts, identifying the issues and techniques commonly used and comparing the positions of various scholars in this respect, with a particular focus on self-help books. The second chapter explores the translation of those I found to be the most interesting sections of 'Encuentra tu persona vitamina'. Through this translation, I tried to capture the essence and deeper meaning of the author's words, while preserving in the Italian context the message she wanted to convey. The third chapter sets out the fundamental aims of this thesis and focuses on a translation-oriented analysis, complemented with comments and observations. A comparison between the original text and its Italian version is included to highlight the choices and challenges encountered in the translation process. In summary, this paper represents a comprehensive study on the translation of self-help books, using 'Encuentra tu persona vitamina' as a starting point and addressing key issues in the translation of scientific dissemination and self-help texts. Through this analysis and comparison, I aimed to shed light on the complexities of translation in this genre and the impact they have on the transmission of the original message to the Italian audience.

Esta tesis se origina del deseo de explorar la traducción de la literatura de autoayuda, la que encamina los lectores hacia ver el mundo de otra manera, mejorar su autoestima, entender las heridas que arrastran y, de hecho, luchar por su bienestar. Mi trabajo se adentra en el apasionante mundo de la traducción de este género, centrándose especialmente en la traducción de 'Encuentra tu persona vitamina' de Marian Rojas Estapé. El primer capítulo analiza en profundidad la teoría de la traducción de textos de divulgación científica, identificando las problemáticas y las técnicas comúnmente utilizadas y comparando las posiciones de varios estudiosos al respecto, con un enfoque particular en los libros de autoayuda. El segundo capítulo explora la traducción de las secciones – en mi opinión – más interesantes de 'Encuentra tu persona vitamina'. A través de esta traducción, se busca capturar la esencia y el significado profundo de las palabras de la autora, preservando su mensaje en el contexto italiano. El tercer capítulo establece los objetivos fundamentales de esta tesis y se centra en un análisis traductológico de la traducción realizada, acompañado de comentarios y observaciones. Se incluye una comparación entre el texto original y su versión en italiano para resaltar las decisiones y los desafíos encontrados en el proceso de traducción. En resumen, este trabajo representa un estudio exhaustivo sobre la traducción de libros de autoayuda, utilizando 'Encuentra tu persona vitamina' como punto de partida y abordando cuestiones clave en la traducción de textos de divulgación científica y de autoayuda. A través de este análisis y comparación, se pretende arrojar luz sobre las complejidades de la traducción en este género y su impacto en la transmisión del mensaje original al público italiano.
