The essay aims to study the Roman institution of dictatorship as a form of government with emergency powers. Therefore, it will analyze the thoughts of Niccolò Machiavelli, with a primary reference to his work "Discourses on the First Ten of Titus Livy", and Carl Schmitt with his work "The Dictatorship."
L'elaborato vuole studiare l'istituzione romana della dittatura intesa come modalità di governo con poteri emergenziali. Verranno pertanto analizzati il pensiero di Niccolò Machiavelli, con riferimento principale ai "Discorsi sopra la prima deca di Tito Livio", e Carl Schmitt con la sua opera "La dittatura".
