Flaubert et le romantisme dans Madame Bovary

The purpose of this study is to highlight the romanticism in one of Flaubert's major works, namely Madame Bovary, and in particular, to show and describe the romantic character present in the character of Emma Bovary through the analysis of the work. The first chapter covers Flaubert's life, French realism and a general overview of the birth of the 19th century realist novel. In the second chapter, however, the author's stylistic choice is analyzed, namely: the writing he employs in the works, the theory of art, impersonality, and the romanticism present in the work entitled "Madame Bovary." Finally, the third chapter focuses attention in the actual work; the birth of Bovaryism is discussed, a more detailed analysis of the two main characters, Charles and Emma, is made, and the trial of Madame Bovary is also finally described.

L'objectif de cette étude est de mettre en évidence le romantisme dans l'une des œuvres majeures de Flaubert, à savoir Madame Bovary, et en particulier de montrer et de décrire le caractère romantique présent dans le personnage d'Emma Bovary à travers une analyse de l'œuvre. Le premier chapitre traite de la vie de Flaubert, du réalisme français et d'un aperçu général de la naissance du roman réaliste du XIXe siècle. Dans le deuxième chapitre, les choix stylistiques de l'auteur sont analysés, à savoir : l'écriture qu'il emploie dans ses œuvres, la théorie de l'art, l'impersonnalité et le romantisme présent dans son œuvre Madame Bovary. Enfin, le troisième chapitre se concentre sur l'œuvre elle-même ; la naissance du bovarysme est abordée, une analyse plus détaillée des deux personnages principaux, Charles et Emma, est faite, et le procès de Madame Bovary est enfin décrit.
