The following paper will attempt to give an overview of the phenomenon of nomadism in literature. Starting with a brief history of the human journey and a brief analysis of nomadism, we will then go through two novels, written by two 'post-colonial' authors, Bruce Chatwin and J.M.G. Le Clézio, who, in different ways, narrate otherness. In this case the otherness is that of nomadic peoples, who make travelling an existential condition. The two works examined are "The Ways of Songs" (Chatwin) and "Desert" (Le Clézio).

Abstract
The following paper will attempt to give an overview of the phenomenon of nomadism in literature. Starting with a brief history of the human journey and a brief analysis of nomadism, we will then go through two novels, written by two 'post-colonial' authors, Bruce Chatwin and J.M.G. Le Clézio, who, in different ways, narrate otherness. In this case the otherness is that of nomadic peoples, who make travelling an existential condition. The two works examined are "The Ways of Songs" (Chatwin) and "Desert" (Le Clézio).File | Dimensione | Formato | |
