ClassyFarm: l’innovazione italiana nella gestione degli allevamenti nel contesto delle recenti normative europee

This thesis regards ClassyFarm, a risk classification system for ruminant, pig and poultry farms. This classification method was developed by the Istituto Zooprofilattico sperimentale della Lombardia e dell’Emilia-Romagna at the behest of the Minstero della Salute Italiano. In the paper, after explaining how the integrated system of ClassyFarm works, we focus on the European regulations (among which, one of the most important is the CAP) that have led to the creation of this tool. It is considered the European context that is increasingly attentive to respect the environment and that, consequently, wants to encourage, through subsidies, agricultural and zootechnical practices attentive to environmental protection and animal welfare. In addition, the text focuses on the need to guarantee animal welfare, to adopt measures to ensure biosecurity and control, through ClassyFarm, of the use of antibiotics on farms, also to protect human health according to the concept of One Health.

In questa tesi si prende in considerazione ClassyFarm, un sistema di classificazione del rischio degli allevamenti di ruminanti, suini e specie avicole. Questo metodo di classificazione è stato realizzato dall’Istituto Zooprofilattico sperimentale della Lombardia e dell’Emilia-Romagna per volontà del Ministero della Salute Italiano. Nell’elaborato, dopo aver spiegato come funziona il sistema integrato di ClassyFarm, ci si sofferma sulle normative europee (tra le quali, una delle più importanti è la PAC) che hanno portato alla realizzazione di questo strumento. Viene considerato il contesto europeo che è sempre più attento al rispetto dell’ambiente e che, di conseguenza, vuole incentivare, tramite sovvenzioni, pratiche agricole e zootecniche attente alla salvaguardia ambientale e al benessere animale. Inoltre, nel testo si spiega la necessità di garantire il benessere animale, di adottare misure volte a garantire la biosicurezza e un controllo, tramite ClassyFarm, dell’uso di antibiotici negli allevamenti, anche al fine di tutelare la salute umana secondo il concetto di One Health.
