La pesca nel mondo romano: metodi e strumenti

The thesis aims to define an orderly approach to fishing in the Roman world. In the first chapter, starting with literary sources, the most important fishing techniques used during the Roman period will be explained, citing various authors, with explanatory images showing precisely the different fishing methods and tools. Archaeological hints about fish farming and fish processing in the Roman world will move the attention towards the second chapter, which will focus precisely on the archaeological sources related to the techniques explained above. The third chapter will be devoted to the various reflections and conclusions that can be drawn from the various sources cited in the first chapters.

La tesi mira a definire un approccio ordinato alla pesca nel mondo romano. Nel primo capitolo, partendo dalle fonti letterarie, si andranno a spiegare le tecniche di pesca più importanti utilizzate durante il periodo romano citando vari autori, con immagini esplicative che mostrano proprio i diversi metodi e strumenti per la pesca. Accenni archeologici riguardo l’allevamento e la lavorazione del pesce nel mondo romano sposteranno l’attenzione verso il secondo capitolo, che si concentrerà appunto sulle fonti archeologiche inerenti alle tecniche spiegate in precedenza. Il terzo capitolo sarà dedicato alle varie riflessioni e conclusioni che si possono evincere dalle diverse fonti citate nei primi capitoli.
