The present thesis work focuses on the historical-archaeological context of the CUS-Piovego necropolis in Padua (6th - 4th century BC), excavated between the '70s and '80s by the former Institute of Archaeology of Padua and currently being studied by the Department of Cultural Heritage of our University. In particular, since the dental analysis conducted on the inhumed individuals has revealed specific para- and extra-masticatory wear patterns in some of them, this research involves morphologic and microscopic analysis, using a metallographic microscope, of the dental micro-wear found in the individual belonging to Tomb V, aiming to obtain information both on how teeth were used as a "third hand" in artisanal activities, and on the well.being of the same,
Il presente lavoro di tesi si concentra sul contesto storico-archeologico della necropoli CUS-Piovego di Padova (VI-IV secolo a.C.), scavato tra gli anni '70 e '80 dall'allora Istituto di Archeologia di Padova ed al momento studiato dal Dipartimento dei Beni Culturali della nostra Università. In particolare, dato che l'analisi dentale condotta sugli individui inumati ha rivelato specifici pattern di usura para- ed extra-masticatoria in alcuni di essi, questa ricerca coinvolge l'analisi morfologica e microscopica, utilizzando un microscopio metallografico, delle micro usure dentarie ritrovate nell'individuo appartenente alla Tomba V, mirando ad ottenere informazioni sia su come i denti fossero usati come "terza mano" nelle attività artigianali, che sullo stato di salute degli stessi.
