Curve ellittiche: la Famiglia di Legendre

The main scope of the thesis is to introduce the study of elliptic curves by taking in consideration one of their the simplest yet most important examples: the Legendre Family. It starts from basic notions of geometry (affine and projective spaces, varieties and morphisms) and then continues with results of algebraic geometry, all to prepare the reader to define elliptic curves. After a brief summary of the fundamental properties of elliptic curves it moves on the definition of the family of Legendre curves and the presentation of their attributes.

L'elaborato ha come obiettivo introdurre allo studio delle curve ellittiche prendendo in considerazione uno degli esempi più semplici e importanti di queste: la famiglia di Legendre. Nel dettaglio parte da nozioni basilari di geometria (spazi affine e proiettivo, varietà e morfismi) per poi proseguire con risultati di geometria algebrica propedeutici alla definizione di curva ellittica. Dopo un breve riassunto delle proprietà fondamentali delle curve ellittiche si passa alla definizione della famiglia di curve di Legendre e alla presentazione delle loro peculiarità.
