A Special Case of Memory. (Ri)scrivere la filosofia, la letteratura, la storia.

The objective of the following research is to define and compare the processes that determine the transformation of texts passed on by certain kind of tradition using the perspective of three disciplines: history, philosophy, and literature. The introduction will anticipate the main concepts and offer a framework for the author that will take on the role of protagonists in the three primary chapters. The first of which will be entirely dedicated to a comparison between R. G. Collingwood’s and P. Veyne’s philosophies of history. The second chapter will deal with texts of philosophical nature, concerning the practice of medieval commentaries, this thanks to the contributions of A. de Libera and E. Coccia. The third and final chapter constituting the main body of the research, will take to exam the theme of rewriting, particularly the one regarding English Classics, which origin derives from post-colonial writers. This analysis will draw upon texts and articles from various authors, some prominent names are T. S. Eliot, J. M. Coetzee, E. W. Said, J. McLeod and C. Zabus. Finally, the conclusion will give space to a dialogue among the three perspectives, by identifying the main similarities and differences between them.

Lo scopo della seguente ricerca è la definizione e il confronto tra i processi che determinano la trasformazione di testi tramandati da una determinata tradizione in tre discipline: la storia, la filosofia e la letteratura. Nell’introduzione verrà proposta un’anticipazione dei termini principali e una cornice degli autori protagonisti dei tre principali capitoli. Il primo di questi sarà interamente dedicato a un confronto tra le filosofie della storia di R. G. Collingwood e di P. Veyne. Il secondo capitolo tratterà i testi di natura filosofica, in particolare la pratica di commento nel periodo medievale, ciò mediante i contributi di A. de Libera ed E. Coccia. Il terzo e ultimo capitolo, costituente il corpo principale della ricerca, prenderà in esame il tema della riscrittura, in particolare quella dei classici inglesi, la cui origine deriva da scrittori post-coloniali. Tale analisi utilizzerà testi e articoli sul genere provenienti da vari autori, tra questi alcuni nomi di spicco sono: T. S. Eliot, J. M. Coetzee, E. W. Said, J. McLeod e C. Zabus. Le battute conclusive, infine, daranno spazio ad un dialogo tra le tre prospettive, rilevandone le principali somiglianze e differenze tra quest’ultime.
