The present work aims to analyze the book Las Voladoras written by the Ecuadorian author Mónica Ojeda from the perspective of gender-based violence, proposing a specific aesthetic called "Andean Gothic". Exploring the theme of terror, the work collects eight stories set in different locations in the Ecuadorian Andes, examining themes such as femicide, domestic violence, child abuse and abortion. The first chapter of the thesis focuses on the characteristics of Mónica Ojeda's poetics, thus delving into the fantástico femenino de la globalización genre and the Andean Gothic aesthetic. The second chapter, which introduces the work Las Voladoras, further explores the theme of Andean Gothic with the aim of denouncing gender violence represented in the text. Finally, the third and final chapter aims to analyze three of the eight stories in the author's work: "Las voladoras," "Sangre coagulada," and "Cabeza voladora."
Il presente elaborato si pone l’obiettivo di analizzare l’opera Las Voladoras dell’autrice ecuadoriana Mónica Ojeda dal punto di vista della violenza di genere, proponendo un’estetica specifica denominata “gotico andino”. Esplorando il tema del terrore, l’opera raccoglie otto racconti ambientati in diverse località delle Ande ecuadoriane esaminando tematiche come il femminicidio, la violenza domestica, l’abuso infantile e l’aborto. Il primo capitolo della tesi si concentra sulle caratteristiche della poetica di Mónica Ojeda, approfondendo quindi il genere fantastico femminile della globalizzazione e l’estetica del gotico andino proprio dell’opera analizzata. Il secondo capitolo, che introduce l’opera Las Voladoras, approfondisce il tema del gotico andino con l’obiettivo di denunciare la violenza di genere presente nel testo. Il terzo e ultimo capitolo, infine, si propone di analizzare tre degli otto racconti presenti nel lavoro dell’autrice: “Las voladoras”, “Sangre coagulada” e “Cabeza voladora”.
