The purpose of this study is to review the scientific literature in order to investigate the link between giftedness and the learning of Mathematics. The scientific literature on the construct of Giftedness is therefore reviewed, identifying and presenting the main theories and main reference models developed over time by researchers of this construct. The multidimensionality of the construct, the breadth of the spectrum of modalities and facets in which it manifests itself, has prevented researchers from agreeing on a single definition of gift. However, some peculiar characteristics of gifted children have been identified and described, which distinguish them from non-gifted children. Furthermore, the emotional, motivational, relational and social aspects of gifted people are outlined and their strengths and weaknesses are highlighted. The theories and learning models of Mathematics that currently most accredited in the scientific world to date are presented. Finally, the abilities that distinguish gifted from non-gifted subjects in the field of Mathematics are identified and exposed. In conclusion, the need for an early identification of gifted subjects will be made clear in order to prepare ad adequate individualized and personalized support path such as to be nourishment for their intellectual needs and support for their emotional-affective, relational, social and motivational fragilities.

Abstract
In conclusion, the need for an early identification of gifted subjects will be made clear in order to prepare ad adequate individualized and personalized support path such as to be nourishment for their intellectual needs and support for their emotional-affective, relational, social and motivational fragilities.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
