In the present thesis work the coordination chemistry of barium(II) with bidentate ligands and macrocyclic chelators was studied, with the aim of obtaining indicative data on the complexation of radium-223, which isotopes known occur in nature in an exclusively radioactive form. Characterization of the metal complexes was carried out by potentiometric analysis, UV-Vis spectroscopy and NMR; techniques that allowed the obtaining of both quantitative data, such as the acidity constants of the chelators used and the complexation constants of the complexes with barium(II), and qualitative data, allowing the evaluation of the behavior of the various complexes in solution.

Abstract
In the present thesis work the coordination chemistry of barium(II) with bidentate ligands and macrocyclic chelators was studied, with the aim of obtaining indicative data on the complexation of radium-223, which isotopes known occur in nature in an exclusively radioactive form. Characterization of the metal complexes was carried out by potentiometric analysis, UV-Vis spectroscopy and NMR; techniques that allowed the obtaining of both quantitative data, such as the acidity constants of the chelators used and the complexation constants of the complexes with barium(II), and qualitative data, allowing the evaluation of the behavior of the various complexes in solution.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
