Cancer is one of the most frequently diagnosed diseases in humans worldwide. Among applied therapies, photodynamic therapy (PDT) is considered a promising local therapy for cancer treatment. Nowadays, it is an established treatment modality used for several types of cancer (prostate cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer and esophageal cancer). Photosensitizers (PS) used in PDT have low solubility and resulting bioavailability, hindering the broad clinical application of PDT. In this project, we synthesized several porphyrin derivatives with suitable physical and chemical characteristics for use in PDT.

Abstract
Cancer is one of the most frequently diagnosed diseases in humans worldwide. Among applied therapies, photodynamic therapy (PDT) is considered a promising local therapy for cancer treatment. Nowadays, it is an established treatment modality used for several types of cancer (prostate cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer and esophageal cancer). Photosensitizers (PS) used in PDT have low solubility and resulting bioavailability, hindering the broad clinical application of PDT. In this project, we synthesized several porphyrin derivatives with suitable physical and chemical characteristics for use in PDT.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
