Wild mammals' sensitivity to the acoustic disturbance along the urbanization gradient

The study concerns the response of wild mammals to an acoustic disturbance (human playback) along the urbanization gradient. The research was conducted in central Italy (Tuscany) and focused on the study of ten mammal species in the area, using devices called 'boom boxes' for playing the recordings and camera traps for capturing the reactions and behavior of the animals. The purpose of the thesis is to investigate whether different species exhibit different reactions in response to anthropogenic stimuli and to examine whether urbanization has an impact on the responses provided by the sspecies

Lo studio riguarda la risposta dei mammiferi selvatici al disturbo provocato dall'emissione di una registrazione di una voce umana in relazione a diversi gradi di urbanizzazione. Il lavoro è stato svolto in centro Italia (in Toscana) e si è focalizzato sullo studio di dieci specie di mammiferi presenti nell'area, utilizzando dei dispositivi chiamati "boom box" per l'emissione delle registrazioni e delle video trappole per la ripresa delle reazioni e il comportamento degli animali. Lo scopo della tesi è verificare se le diverse specie hanno reazioni differenti in risposta ad uno stimolo antropico e se l'urbanizzazione ha un effetto sulle risposte fornite dalle singole specie.
