L'integrazione dei gitani nella società spagnola

The present thesis aims to explain the process of integration of the gypsy people in Spanish society, specifically referring to the Roma children in the educational field. For this purpose, we will talk about the origins, history, and characteristics of the gypsy people, focusing on the current situation within Spanish society. In particular, following the report on the migratory journey that brought the Roma people to the Iberian Peninsula, and the analysis of the cultural peculiarities of this ethnic minority, we will deepen into the processes of discrimination against gypsies in the differents social environments, and subsequently, the preventive and reactive measures currently in place to reduce inequalities and promoting global integration. Finally, there will be an in-depth study of the educational situation of gypsies in Spain, and then we will focus on the prospects and inclusion practices that could be applied in the social system and also in the schools. The aim of the project is to give the reader a general overview of the gypsy culture and everything that it implies in the life of a person, especially from a social point of view. In addition, we want the reader to consider education as a fundamental mean through which prejudices can be fought and which can encourage the development of an open mentality capable of recognizing diversity as a cultural richness, in order to reach a positive social coexistence.

La presente tesi ha l’obiettivo di presentare il processo di integrazione delle persone di origine gitana all’interno della società spagnola, con un riferimento particolare all’integrazione dei bambini rom in ambito educativo. A tale scopo, verranno illustrate le origini, la storia, e le caratteristiche del popolo gitano, soffermandosi sulla situazione attuale nella società spagnola. In particolar modo, in seguito al resoconto riguardante il viaggio migratorio che ha portato il popolo rom nella penisola iberica, e un’analisi delle peculiarità culturali di questa minoranza etnica, si analizzeranno i processi di discriminazione presenti nei confronti dei gitani nei diversi ambiti sociali, e successivamente, gli interventi preventivi e reattivi attualmente in atto con lo scopo di ridurre le disuguaglianze e favorire l’integrazione globale. Infine, ci sarà un approfondimento sulla situazione educativa dei gitani in Spagna, che si concluderà con una riflessione sulle prospettive e sulle buone prassi di inclusione applicabili in ambito scolastico e sociale. Il fine dell’elaborato è quello di restituire al lettore una panoramica generale sulla cultura gitana e su tutto ciò che far parte di essa implica nella vita di una persona, soprattutto dal punto di vista sociale. Inoltre, si vuole far riflettere sull’educazione come mezzo fondamentale attraverso cui combattere i pregiudizi e favorire lo sviluppo di una mentalità aperta e capace di riconoscere la diversità come ricchezza nell’ottica di una convivenza sociale positiva.
