Analisi sull’efficacia dei programmi del FMI: il caso Bosnia ed Erzegovina

The thesis analyzes the effectiveness of the various IMF programs starting from a general presentation of them and then focusing on the effect they had in particular in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The country after the 1992-1995 war relied on several IMF programmes in search of stability and economic recovery through the transition to a market economy. The aim of the IMF’s intervention was to support the reforms needed, to improve the efficiency of the state apparatus, coordinate and mediate the various sub-national entities, acting as guarantor with other international institutions and transfer knowledge and provide technical support to local authorities.

La tesi analizza l’efficacia dei vari programmi FMI a partire da una loro presentazione generale per poi concentrarsi sull’effetto che hanno avuto in particolare in Bosnia ed Erzegovina. Il paese dopo la guerra del 1992-1995 si è affidato a più programmi del FMI in cerca di stabilità e ripresa economica attraverso il passaggio ad una economia di mercato. L’intervento del FMI mirava a sostenere le riforme necessarie ad un efficientamento dell’apparato statale, coordinare e mediare le diverse entità subnazionali, facendo da garante con altre istituzioni internazionali e trasferire conoscenze e fornire supporto tecnico alle autorità locali.
