The paper, starting from an analysis of contemporary historiography and the last century's discussion on meat sacrifice in ancient Greece, explores the sacrificial practices related to the Eleusinian cult of Demeter and Kore. It specifically addresses the iconography found in significant ceramic evidence from Eleusis, a prominent sanctuary in the Hellenic polytheistic landscape.
L’elaborato tratta, a partire dalla disamina della discussione storiografica contemporanea e del secolo scorso sul sacrificio carneo nell’antica Grecia, le pratiche sacrificali legate al culto eleusino di Demetra e Kore. Se ne affronta in particolare l’iconografia presente in alcune importanti testimonianze ceramiche provenienti da Eleusi, santuario di grande rilievo nel panorama politeistico ellenico.
