Politically (in)correct: la diversità culturale nelle società italiana e russa

This paper offers a careful analysis of the development of the phenomenon of politically correct in Italian and Russian societies. Starting from a diachronic analysis of the phenomenon, we will see how politically correct has taken on different meanings over time, from a term used exclusively by the American New Left to ironize an orthodoxy too rigid for the canons of the time, to a weapon used by the conservative right to accuse the New Left of wanting to impose a single thought, of not being able to say anything anymore. Meaning that, as will be seen, is widely developed today. We will then analyze the phenomenon from the point of view of Italian and Russian societies, two realities that have known the phenomenon of politically correct in a later era than in the English-speaking world and that are only seeing its effects in recent years. The last part will be designated to one of the aspects on which the phenomenon of politically correct has focused, the definition of cultural diversity. Today more than ever it is important to know how to address the other without harming the dignity of others, this last part aims to analyze those terms now considered politically incorrect within the two societies and to give a politically correct solution.

Il presente elaborato propone un’attenta analisi dello sviluppo del fenomeno del politically correct nelle società italiana e russa. Partendo da un’analisi diacronica del fenomeno, si vedrà come il politically correct ha assunto nel corso del tempo accezioni diverse, da un termine utilizzato esclusivamente dalla sinistra americana per ironizzare su un’ortodossia troppo rigida per i canoni dell’epoca, diventa un’arma utilizzata dalla destra conservatrice per accusare la sinistra di voler imporre un pensiero unico, di non poter più dire nulla. Accezione che, come si vedrà, è ampiamente sviluppata oggi. Si analizzerà poi il fenomeno dal punto di vista delle società italiana e russa, due realtà che hanno conosciuto il fenomeno del politically correct in epoca più tarda rispetto al mondo anglofono e che solo negli ultimi anni stanno vedendo i suoi effetti. L’ultima parte sarà dedicata a uno degli aspetti su cui il fenomeno del politically correct si è concentrato, la definizione della diversità culturale. Oggi più che mai è importante sapere come rivolgersi all’Altro senza ledere alla dignità altrui, quest’ultima parte si propone di analizzare quei termini ora considerati politicamente scorretti all'interno delle due società prese in esame e dare una soluzione politicamente corretta.
