Original, extravagant, ironic, in the contemporary literary scene emerges the strong personality of the Belgian writer Amélie Nothomb, a particularly interesting figure that attracts, with his novels, the attention of critics and public, provoking the most varied and controversial opinions. Nothomb is characterized by the ability to produce books that are easy to read but, at the same time, not without metaletterary reflections, erudite expressions and intense dialogues between the characters. The thematic universe of his works is built on strong dualities: youth and old age, human and divine, beauty and ugliness, obesity and thinness, pure and impure. More generally, almost all of his texts propose an underlying reflection on life and death. For this thesis work, the choice was to consider two books by the Belgian writer, namely Métaphysique des tubes and Biographie de la faim, both considered autobiographical texts and, for each of them, analyze the experiences of death and the relative possibilities/impossibilities of salvation. After a first chapter dedicated to the author’s bio-bibliography and a brief introduction on the literary genres of autobiography and autofiction, the main topic of the paper will be presented. Then there will be two chapters, one for each book, in which we will try to investigate the theme of death in an attempt to highlight how the writing of Amélie Nothomb does not reject death but, on the contrary, consider it an integral part of life.

Abstract
Then there will be two chapters, one for each book, in which we will try to investigate the theme of death in an attempt to highlight how the writing of Amélie Nothomb does not reject death but, on the contrary, consider it an integral part of life.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
