When we speak about Émile Zola we speak mainly of a French writer, considered the greatest exponent of realism. Émile Zola was also known as a journalist, essayist, literary critic, philosopher and French photographer, also influenced by his painter friends. He attended salons and in general circles steeped in culture, indeed, when we speak of Zola we speak of a literary man, who was strongly influenced also by impressionism and realism. He had many friends’ painters and before being writer he also tried to be a painter; in this regard he is famous the Portrait of Zola, painted by Manet in 1868.
Quand on parle de Émile Zola on parle principalement d’un écrivain français, considéré le principal représentant du réalisme. Émile Zola était aussi connu comme un journaliste, essayiste, critique littéraire, philosophe et photographe français, très influencé aussi par ses amis peintres. Il fréquentait les salons et en général des milieux imprégnés de culture, en effet, quand on parle de Zola on parle d’un lettré qui était fortement influencé aussi par l’impressionnisme et le réalisme. Il avait beaucoup d’amis peintres et avant d’être écrivain il s’adressa aussi à l’art ; à ce propos il est célèbre le Portrait de Zola, peint par Manet en 1868.
