This thesis focuses on the analysis of William Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus. This thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter will provide an articulate summary of the tragedy, followed by an analysis of Shakespeare’s major influence in writing Titus Andronicus, which is the tragedy by Seneca Thyestes. In addition to the similarities between Titus Andronicus and Seneca’s tragedy, such as the revenge scene and the banquet, this thesis will examine the influence of Seneca during the Elizabethan period, in particular, focusing on a comparison between the elements of the tragedy in Seneca and Shakespeare.
