The thesis aims to analyze akrasia, or the tendency to betray one's good intentions, rereading this concept from a social constructionist (Gergen, 2022) and dialogic (Hermans, 2003) perspective. Specifically, five case studies will be discussed in which akrasia will be investigated as a form of adherence to treatments aimed at pursuing a healthy lifestyle. From a methodological point of view, participants were administered the Personal Position Repertoire (Hermans, 2001), a structured interview method used to map the different positions of the self. The objective is to evaluate whether the recurrence of episodes of akrasia depends on a particular organization of the internal and external positions of the self. The main results obtained from a qualitative-quantitative analysis of the repertoires seem to support some research hypotheses (Romaioli, 2023), in which the extension of the repertoire and certain dynamics of dominance between positions play a crucial role. The essay concludes with some reflections on the prevention of akrasia.

Abstract
The essay concludes with some reflections on the prevention of akrasia.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
