The ageing of the population is a constantly increasing phenomenon, together with a growth in life expectancy and a general improvement in conditions. In accordance, this paper focuses on active ageing and its promotion through effective tools. Focusing on the cognitive basis, the reorganisation of neuronal scaffolding in old age will be explored, delving into the concepts of plasticity and cognitive reserve. Particular attention will be paid to cognitive training, with the aim of enhancing specific skills such as problem solving, decision making and planning, as well as complementary executive functions such as WM and attention. An alternative method of such training is present in its digital version with computerised cognitive training (CCT), which allows collaboration between clinic and technology away from a formal setting.

Abstract
The ageing of the population is a constantly increasing phenomenon, together with a growth in life expectancy and a general improvement in conditions. In accordance, this paper focuses on active ageing and its promotion through effective tools. Focusing on the cognitive basis, the reorganisation of neuronal scaffolding in old age will be explored, delving into the concepts of plasticity and cognitive reserve. Particular attention will be paid to cognitive training, with the aim of enhancing specific skills such as problem solving, decision making and planning, as well as complementary executive functions such as WM and attention. An alternative method of such training is present in its digital version with computerised cognitive training (CCT), which allows collaboration between clinic and technology away from a formal setting.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
