I movimenti oculari di chi ha solo metà del campo visivo: vergenza, saccadi e antisaccadi. Uno studio con i pazienti emianoptici.

The objective of this thesis project was to explore and deepen the understanding of this condition from a functional perspective, with a specific focus on the eye movements of these patients. Following a brief introduction explaining this condition and a short overview of the ocular apparatus, the eye movements of these patients were highlighted from an optometric and psychophysical standpoint, compared to those of normally sighted individuals during specific tasks. Psychophysical tasks were carried out, analyzing eye movements with an eyetracker, and optometric tasks were performed to evaluate the fusion of visual and verbal components. This allowed for an objective and quantitative assessment of eye movements and oculomotor ability. The results of the psychophysical and optometric tests indicate that, although the performance of patients with hemianopsia does not show significant drops, there are some notable differences which will be discussed at the end of this thesis.

Con questo progetto di tesi si è voluto cercare, per quanto ampio e variegato sia l’argomento, di fornire e approfondire questa condizione da un punto di vista funzionale, focalizzandosi maggiormente sui movimenti oculari di questi pazienti. Dopo una breve introduzione sulla spiegazione di questa condizione e un breve accenno sull’apparato oculare, sono stati evidenziati maggiormente da un punto optometrico e psicofisico i movimenti oculari di questi pazienti a confronto con soggetti normovedenti durante compiti specifici. Sono stati svolti compiti psicofisici analizzando i movimenti oculari con l’eyetracker e compiti optometrici che valutano la fusione della componente visiva con quella verbale, consentendo una valutazione oggettiva, quantitativa dei movimenti oculari e dell’abilità oculomotoria del soggetto. I risultati ai test psicofisici e optometrici mostrano che, sebbene la prestazione ai test dei pazienti con emianopsia non mostri cadute rilevanti, sono tuttavia presenti alcune differenze significative che verranno discusse alla fine di questa tesi.
