This thesis examines the historical development of the IOM, its purpose, its structure, its major initiatives and its role within the global migration governance landscape. Additionally, given the inherent connection between migration and climate change, this thesis aims to investigate and elucidate the role of the IOM in its quest to manage climate migration.
