The paper examines the life and works of the scientist Galileo Galilei, especially focusing on the years he spent in Padua and his subsequent movements between Rome and Florence. The main objective of the thesis is to identify the extent and impact of the Pisan scientist's astronomical discoveries on the society of his time, particularly on artistic imagination. Starting from the famous "Sidereus Nuncius," Galileo will revolutionize millennia-old thought based on the Aristotelian geocentric thesis with his telescopic observations, which cannot fail to have dire consequences. The condemnation by the Roman Catholic Church will be analyzed, as well as the extraordinary influence that Galileo's tools and discoveries will have on seventeenth-century figurative art.

Abstract
The paper examines the life and works of the scientist Galileo Galilei, especially focusing on the years he spent in Padua and his subsequent movements between Rome and Florence. The main objective of the thesis is to identify the extent and impact of the Pisan scientist's astronomical discoveries on the society of his time, particularly on artistic imagination. Starting from the famous "Sidereus Nuncius," Galileo will revolutionize millennia-old thought based on the Aristotelian geocentric thesis with his telescopic observations, which cannot fail to have dire consequences. The condemnation by the Roman Catholic Church will be analyzed, as well as the extraordinary influence that Galileo's tools and discoveries will have on seventeenth-century figurative art.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
