The paper aims at analyzing two buildings of special significance from Priniàs, a Cretan settlement active during the Early Iron Age. The available evidence allows for the formulation of reflections, to be explicitly considered as preliminary study hypotheses, which may guide towards a better understanding of the settlement's configuration. Its presence is already attested from the final phase of the Bronze Age, and its gradual transformation into a fully-fledged polis throughout history. For some decades now, the University of Catania Mission has been excavating at the Patéla of Priniàs. The first excavations, mostly extensive, were conducted by Giovanni Rizza, revealing a substantial part of the urban layout in the central and southern areas of the city. The most recent excavations were carried out by Dario Palermo's group, who are currently conducting checks in the area of Temples A and B and immediately to the south of them. However, the excavation results do not yet allow for clear conclusions regarding the structural phases of the settlement and the absolute dating of the site. Ultimately, it is interesting to note how the stratigraphic investigations carried out in the area of Building A and in the zone south of the temples could serve as a starting point for a more comprehensive and accurate analysis regarding the longevity of the site.

Abstract
Ultimately, it is interesting to note how the stratigraphic investigations carried out in the area of Building A and in the zone south of the temples could serve as a starting point for a more comprehensive and accurate analysis regarding the longevity of the site.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
