Il significato delle costellazioni nell'opera di Joseph Cornell, 1950-1964

The research aims to expose the symbolic use of the constellations in the shadow boxes of Joseph Cornell (1903-1972), in particular in the boxes with astronomical contents. This research will be divided into three parts: the first part concerns the examination of the artist's biography and career, the second part concerns Cornell's influences; while the third part involves viewing the works between 1950 and 1964 with the representation of constellations, in order to identify their meaning.

La ricerca ha come obbiettivo quello di esporre l’uso simbolico delle costellazioni nelle shadow box di Joseph Cornell (1903-1972), in particolare nelle scatole con contenuti astronomici. Tale ricerca si svolgerà divisa in tre parti: la prima parte riguarda la presa visione della biografia dell'artista e la carriera, la seconda parte riguarda le influenze di Cornell; mentre la terza parte prevede la presa visione delle opere tra il 1950 e il 1964 con la rappresentazione di costellazioni, in modo da identificarne il significato.
