The main objective of this thesis is the elaboration of a terminological analysis having medicine as its domain. In particular, the study of two diseases, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and multiple sclerosis. The choice of this domain and subdomain is motivated by the desire to contribute to the Brainteaser project, an international data science initiative aimed at improving the quality of life for patients affected by these conditions through the development of a monitoring and data collection system. The structure of the thesis is organized as follows: the initial chapter provides an introduction to the discipline, followed by an overview of the main theoretical perspectives. The second section offers a description of the domain, including an examination of the ICD classification of the two pathologies and an overview of medical terminology from both an intra-linguistic and interlinguistic perspective. Chapters three, four, and five constitute the core of this work, as they detail the entire terminological study, starting with the conceptual dimension and the description of the concept system, followed by an examination of the four lexical networks in English, Italian, French, and German, and concluding with the compilation of terminological records on the FAIRterm application.

Abstract
Chapters three, four, and five constitute the core of this work, as they detail the entire terminological study, starting with the conceptual dimension and the description of the concept system, followed by an examination of the four lexical networks in English, Italian, French, and German, and concluding with the compilation of terminological records on the FAIRterm application.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
