The digital transformation represents a crucial challenge for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of Made in Italy, which often struggle to effectively communicate their identity and value proposition. The richness of Made in Italy lies in its uniqueness and the cultural tradition that distinguishes it: communicating all of this is not simple, especially when resources are limited. Design thinking, an innovative and empathy-based project model, can be the ideal solution for SMEs. Upskill 4.0, a spin-off of the Ca' Foscari University of Venice, has recognized the potential of this approach and utilizes it with a dual purpose: to help small and medium enterprises and to enrich young students with constructive experiences. This is the case of the work done with Calze BC, a company from Mantua belonging to the Hosiery District, which, thanks to the Upskill 4.0 project, had the opportunity to collaborate with a group of students from the University of Padua. The company turned to the young people to discover how to improve the digital experience and communication in order to increase brand awareness: from this cooperation emerged innovative solutions that will be potentially implemented in the near future.
