Within a global context where sustainability is increasingly relevant, the phenomenon of greenwashing becomes crucial. Greenwashing is a practice aimed at misleading consumers into believing that products and initiatives are more environmentally friendly than they actually are. This paper aims to examine greenwashing practices, with a specific focus on the fashion industry, one of the most prominent sectors in disseminating deceptive sustainability messages. The methodology employed for this research is qualitative, based on the collection and analysis of data from existing studies. The first chapter will address the topic of greenwashing. In the second chapter, after providing a brief introduction to the fashion industry and its significant negative environmental impact, the relationship between greenwashing and the fashion industry will be explored, along with relevant case studies, preparing a comparison between the fast fashion and luxury fashion sectors. Finally, the third chapter will review regulations and standards enacted with the aim of combating greenwashing
All’interno di un contesto globale in cui il tema della sostenibilità assume sempre più rilevanza, il fenomeno del greenwashing diventa un punto cruciale. . Il greenwashing è una pratica volta a fuorviare i consumatori verso prodotti e iniziative, presentati più ecosostenibili di quanto realmente siano. Il presente elaborato si propone di esaminare le pratiche di greenwashing con un focus specifico sul settore della moda, uno dei più prominenti nella divulgazione di messaggi di sostenibilità ingannevoli. La metodologia utilizzata per questa ricerca è di tipo qualitativo, basata sulla raccolta e sull’esame di dati provenienti da studi preesistenti. Nel primo capitolo verrà affrontato il tema del greenwashing. Nel secondo capitolo, dopo aver fornito una breve introduzione sull’industria della moda e sul suo notevole e negativo impatto ambientale, sarà messa a fuoco, con relativi casi di studio, la relazione che intercorre tra il greenwashing e la stessa industria fashion, predisponendo un confronto tra il settore del “fast fashion” e il settore del “luxury fashion”. nfine, nel terzo capitolo si passeranno in rassegna le normative e le regolamentazioni emanate con l’obiettivo di contrastare il greenwashing.
