Il monastero benedettino di Badia Calavena, ricerca storica e ricostruzione digitale

The thesis explores the abbey of Saints Vito, Modesto and Crescenza of Badia Calavena located in the region of Lessinia, in the province of Verona. In the first part, the subject is analyzed from a point of view both historical and architectural retracing all the events the building went through, from the primary construction present on mount San Pietro to the community that developed around the monastery. The interaction with local people, Cimbrian populations and the surrounding monasteries has been a decisive element for its evolution and has deeply influenced its development. Particular attention is paid to the construction phases and, specifically, the transformations of the building after its union to the Congregazione of Santa Giustina. An architectural relief was made, performed with laserscanner, of part of the building to obtain a points’ cloud. Using the process Scan-To-Bim, from point cloud to a Building Information Modeling it was developed the three-dimensional model as-is of the abbey and, from this, it was possible to study and rebuilt the transformation’s historical phasis.

La tesi ha come oggetto l’abbazia dei Santi Vito, Modesto e Crescenza di Badia Calavena collocata nel territorio lessino, in provincia di Verona. Nella prima parte l’argomento viene analizzato da un punto di vista sia storico che architettonico ripercorrendo tutte le vicende subite dal complesso, a partire dal primario nucleo presente sul monte San Pietro fino alla comunità che è andata a svilupparsi attorno al monastero stesso. La sua interazione con i locali, le popolazioni cimbre e i monasteri circostanti è stata déterminante per gran parte della sua evoluzione e ne ha profondamente influenzato lo sviluppo. Particolare attenzione è posta sulle fasi costruttive e, nello specifico, sulle trasformazioni subite dal complesso a seguito della sua annessione alla Congregazione di Santa Giustina. Secondo un processo di Scan-To-BIM, da nuvola di punti a Building Information Model è stato ricostruito il modello tridimensionale as-is del complesso, e a partire da questo sono state poi studiate e ricostruite le fasi di trasformazione storica.
