LA DIMENSIONE UMANA DELLA COSTRUZIONE: TRE ALLESTIMENTI ESPOSITIVI PER DANIELE CALABI

The project developed for this thesis is aimed at the realisation of three exhibition layouts studied and detailed on the occasion of the Barbara Cappochin 2024 Architecture Biennial, promoted by the "Barbara Cappochin" Foundation. The eleventh edition of the event was held in Padua from May to June 2024 and was dedicated to the architect-engineer Daniele Calabi, on the occasion of the sixtieth year since his death. In parallel with the exhibition 'Daniele Calabi a Padova. L'architetto e la città nel secondo dopoguerra', curated by University of Padua architecture history lecturers Elena Svalduz and Stefano Zaggia, there was a need for visitors to experience Calabi's architecture first-hand. To this end, three temporary architectural devices were designed and constructed at two symbolic points in the city of Padua. The first intervention, set up on the Liston between Palazzo Bo, Palazzo Moroni and the Caffè Pedrocchi, consists of six brick blocks and a stele, diaphragms that reproduce the brick wall textures of Daniele Calabi's Paduan works. The other two installations, on the other hand, were conceived to be placed in Corte Ca'Lando, near the civil hospital. On the one hand, a pavilion has been created in the external courtyard to revive the patio house built by Calabi for his family in Sao Paulo, Brazil; on the other hand, brick 'tapestries' have been erected inside the former church of San Marco, recreating the play of light and shadow of the brick wall jellies typical of the designer's architecture.

Il progetto sviluppato per questa tesi ha come scopo la realizzazione di tre allestimenti espositivi studiati e dettagliati in occasione della Biennale di Architettura Barbara Cappochin 2024, promossa dalla Fondazione “Barbara Cappochin”. L’undicesima edizione della manifestazione si è tenuta a Padova da maggio a giugno 2024 ed è stata dedicata all’architetto-ingegnere Daniele Calabi, in occasione del sessantesimo anno dalla sua morte. In parallelo alla mostra “Daniele Calabi a Padova. L’architetto e la città nel secondo dopoguerra”, curata dai docenti di storia dell’architettura dell’Università di Padova Elena Svalduz e Stefano Zaggia, si è riscontrata la necessità che i visitatori potessero fare esperienza diretta delle architetture di Calabi. A tal proposito, sono stati progettati e costruiti tre dispositivi architettonici temporanei collocati in due punti simbolici della città di Padova. Il primo intervento, allestito sul Liston tra Palazzo Bo, Palazzo Moroni e il Caffè Pedrocchi, si compone di sei blocchi di mattoni e di una stele, diaframmi che ripropongono le tessiture murarie in laterizio delle opere padovane di Daniele Calabi. Gli altri due allestimenti, invece, sono stati pensati per essere inseriti in Corte Ca’Lando, nei pressi dell’ospedale civile; se da un lato nel cortile esterno si è realizzato un padiglione per fare rivivere la casa a patio realizzata da Calabi per la sua famiglia a San Paolo in Brasile, all’interno dell’ex chiesetta di San Marco, invece, si sono eretti degli “arazzi” in laterizio, in grado di ricreare i giochi di luce e ombra delle gelosie murarie in mattone, tipiche delle architetture del progettista.
