IL TURISMO DELLE RADICI COME OPPORTUNITÀ: IL CASO STUDIO DI TARANTO

The following thesis aims to analyze the opportunities that roots tourism brings to the city of Taranto, sadly known for the ex Ilva problem, which contributes to damage its local image and its potential tourist heritage. Initially, the research contains a general theoretical-descriptive introduction about roots tourism; then, it presents a focus on the history, the tourist evolution and the negative impact that the big industry reflects on the city's image. Finally, through a series of information ermerged from some interviews to emigrants from Taranto, it has been possible to identify several positive factors that would allow a new narrative of Taranto, enhanced in its social, cultural and tourist aspects.

La seguente tesi va ad analizzare le opportunità che il turismo delle radici apporta alla città di Taranto, tristemente nota per la questione ex Ilva che contribuisce a danneggiarne l'immagine locale e il relativo potenziale turistico. Viene quindi presentata una prima e generale introduzione teorico-descrittiva riguardo il fenomeno turistico delle radici, per poi focalizzarsi sulla storia, sull'evoluzione turistica e sull'impatto negativo che la grande industria riflette sull'immagine della città. Infine, attraverso una serie di informazioni estrapolate da alcune interviste ad emigrati tarantini, è stato possibile individuare diversi fattori positivi che consentirebbero una nuova narrazione di Taranto, valorizzata nei suoi aspetti sociali, culturali e quindi turistici.
