Technological innovation has made it possible to develop new tools for the delivery of healthcare services, such as telemedicine, which requires the secure transmission of sensitive data. To this end, data protection regulations mandate the use of cybersecurity technologies, including encryption. This thesis focuses on the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), a widely used encryption algorithm in various sectors, including healthcare. Specifically, an in-depth analysis of its structure is conducted, followed by the development of an implementation using MATLAB software. Subsequently, the security of the AES algorithm is assessed, and specific use cases of its application in the medical field are examined, with references to scientific literature.
L'innovazione tecnologica ha reso possibile lo sviluppo di nuovi strumenti per l'erogazione di servizi sanitari, come la telemedicina, che richiede la trasmissione sicura di dati sensibili. A tal fine, le normative sulla protezione dei dati impongono l'uso di tecnologie di cybersicurezza, tra cui la crittografia. Questo elaborato si concentra sull'Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), un algoritmo crittografico ampiamente utilizzato in vari settori, incluso quello sanitario. In particolare, si esegue un'analisi approfondita della struttura, per poi svilupparne un'implementazione tramite il software MATLAB. Successivamente, si valuta la sicurezza dell'algoritmo AES e si esaminano casi d'uso specifici del suo impiego in ambito medico, con riferimenti alla letteratura scientifica.
