Studying the origins of the development of the industrial complex in Armentières provides an insight into the importance of the Motte-Cordonnier industrial castle. The aim of this work is to put industrialisation in context, to understand what makes up the area's heritage and why. The identity of a production such as brewing is based on the exploitation of territorial resources, and the study of this area is all the more important because, for a long time, the area was reduced to its strategic position during military conflicts. The understanding of the conjecture by entrepreneurs and the city has enabled the territory to be exploited through technical innovation. The ability to evolve at the pace of society is felt and companies participate in a form of collective management of territories, they govern them like politicians. As managerial and commercial strategies developed during this period, Motte-Cordonnier promoted a quality product produced in quantity, combining modernity and tradition. Industrialisation had important social and economic consequences, notably through the brewery's paternalism, improving workers' living conditions and strengthening their sense of belonging to the company. The brewery's heritage is both tangible and intangible, requiring legal protection. The current redevelopment project aims to preserve this heritage by transforming the former factory into a complex with real estate, cultural, environmental and social functions. This project is essential to maintain the local industrial memory, but the city does little to protect its heritage, and the rehabilitation projects are divided, restricting the multiple heritage aims.

Abstract
This project is essential to maintain the local industrial memory, but the city does little to protect its heritage, and the rehabilitation projects are divided, restricting the multiple heritage aims.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
