The present work has the objective of explore the concept and application of the artificial pancreas, a very promising tool for diabetes management, providing a report and focusing on the components and the technology that form it. The artificial pancreas is an integrated system that has the objective of emulate the physiological function of the human pancreas by combining a sensor for continuous blood glucose monitoring with a device for subcutaneous insulin infusion through a controller. To better understand how this device works and how it is made, it is better to first start with an explanation of: - what the human pancreas is and how it works and why it is so an indispensable organ for human health; - which hormones are involved and what their role is; - what diabetes is and why this disease can arise. Once this is understood, the technological advances that have led to the creation of the artificial pancreas, the components that form it, the benefits, the limitations and the prospects for its future evolution will be analyzed.

Abstract
Once this is understood, the technological advances that have led to the creation of the artificial pancreas, the components that form it, the benefits, the limitations and the prospects for its future evolution will be analyzed.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
