This report aims to delve into the orbital dynamics and the challenges to be faced during rendezvous and docking maneuvers targeting the Lunar Gateway in the Artemis missions. After providing an overview of the orbital maneuvers performed by the Orion spacecraft in cislunar orbit, a methodology for planning and conducting a preliminary analysis of these maneuvers is proposed. The objective is to ensure a high margin of safety through adequate performance of Orion's guidance, navigation, and control system, while also maintaining good fuel efficiency.
Con la presente relazione si intendono approfondire le dinamiche orbitali e le problematiche da affrontare durante le manovre di avvicinamento ed attracco alla stazione spaziale Gateway nel corso delle missioni Artemis. Dopo aver offerto una panoramica delle manovre orbitali svolte dalla navicella Orion in orbita cislunare, viene proposta una metodologia per la pianificazione e l'analisi preventiva di quest'ultime. Lo scopo è quello di assicurare un elevato margine di sicurezza grazie ad un'adeguata performance del sistema di guida, navigazione e controllo di Orion, garantendo inoltre una buona efficienza in termini di consumo di propellente.
