This thesis explores the topic of convertible drones, unmanned aircraft (UAVs) that combine the characteristics of helicopters (vertical takeoff and landing capability) and areoplanes (flying at higher speeds than a rotary-wing aircraft). The objective of the paper is to serve as a preliminary feasibility study for the design phase of a rescue drone as part of the "GoAERO" competition; thus, to construct a report that will be used to identify the most effective design for the purposes of the competition itself. The methodology adopted for the drafting foresee the examination and reworking of scientific literature with a particular focus on the flight dynamics analysis of existing designs trying to highlight their advantages and criticalities.

Abstract
This thesis explores the topic of convertible drones, unmanned aircraft (UAVs) that combine the characteristics of helicopters (vertical takeoff and landing capability) and areoplanes (flying at higher speeds than a rotary-wing aircraft). The objective of the paper is to serve as a preliminary feasibility study for the design phase of a rescue drone as part of the "GoAERO" competition; thus, to construct a report that will be used to identify the most effective design for the purposes of the competition itself. The methodology adopted for the drafting foresee the examination and reworking of scientific literature with a particular focus on the flight dynamics analysis of existing designs trying to highlight their advantages and criticalities.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
