The food supply chain comprises a vast network of activities, from harvesting agricultural products to delivery to the final consumer, and plays a fundamental role in the way we manage natural resources and ecosystems. Today, growing demands for food, compounded by increasingly pressing environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, overexploitation of land and water waste, increase concerns about the sustainability of the food industry. It is essential to abandon the traditional approach and accelerate the transformation of the agri-food sector through the adoption of sustainable models, such as organic farming and the circular economy, at every stage of the supply chain. The difficulty of implementing these solutions, which are essential to address environmental challenges, can be further alleviated by the use of new technologies: tools such as blockchain and the Internet of Things are essential to ensure efficient use of resources and to achieve sustainability goals.

Abstract
The food supply chain comprises a vast network of activities, from harvesting agricultural products to delivery to the final consumer, and plays a fundamental role in the way we manage natural resources and ecosystems. Today, growing demands for food, compounded by increasingly pressing environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, overexploitation of land and water waste, increase concerns about the sustainability of the food industry. It is essential to abandon the traditional approach and accelerate the transformation of the agri-food sector through the adoption of sustainable models, such as organic farming and the circular economy, at every stage of the supply chain. The difficulty of implementing these solutions, which are essential to address environmental challenges, can be further alleviated by the use of new technologies: tools such as blockchain and the Internet of Things are essential to ensure efficient use of resources and to achieve sustainability goals.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
