This study examines the dynamics between body manufacturer Fisher Body and General Motors, beginning with an introduction to the historical context. The revolution started by Ford with the Model T and the introduction of the assembly line radically changed automotive production, facilitating mass production, and reducing production costs. This catalyzed explosive growth in the automotive market, fueled intense competition among manufacturers, and stimulated diversification of models and offerings. The case of Fisher Body and General Motors is a significant example of vertical integration in the automotive industry, which played a critical role in GM's growth strategy, enabling it to rapidly expand its production capacity and improve operational efficiency. However, the case has elicited mixed reactions from economists, who have split into two factions: those who argue that GM abused its power and those who argue that Fisher Body's integration was consensual.

Abstract
However, the case has elicited mixed reactions from economists, who have split into two factions: those who argue that GM abused its power and those who argue that Fisher Body's integration was consensual.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
