Redesigning Production Efficiency: A Case Study at Schneider Electric

The thesis was developed at the manufacturing company Schneider Electric based in Conselve, which works in the field of precision conditioning, and it aims to revise the layout of an entire production line applying Lean Production principles, with the aim of improving the efficiency, ergonomics and safety of operators. The thesis includes the introduction of the company and its history, then will be recalled the theoretical hints related to the lean management of production, a fundamental concept in the development of the project. The project takes shape from the as-is situation, starting from the description of the current state of the line, and then going to analyze it and propose, in the implementation phase, three different scenarios of potential optimization of the line. At the end, the preferred scenario will be chosen, based on the value of some key indicators for the decision, to then analyze the results obtained and evaluate possible future improvement projects.

La tesi è stata sviluppata presso l'azienda manifatturiera Schneider Electric con sede a Conselve, la quale lavora nell'ambito del condizionamento di precisione, e vede come obiettivo la revisione del layout di un'intera linea produttiva in chiave Lean Production, con l'obiettivo di migliorarne l'efficienza, l'ergonomia e la sicurezza degli operatori. La tesi prevede l'introduzione dell'azienda e della sua storia, successivamente verranno richiamati i cenni teorici relativi alla gestione snella della produzione, concetto fondamentale nello sviluppo del progetto. Il progetto prende forma dalla situazione as-is, partendo dalla descrizione dello stato attuale della linea, per poi andare ad analizzarlo e proporre, nella fase di implementazione, tre differenti scenari di potenziale ottimizzazione della linea. Al termine verrà scelto lo scenario preferito, in base al valore di alcuni indicatori chiave per la decisione, per poi analizzare i risultati ottenuti e valutare possibili progetti di miglioramento futuri.
