The thesis is structured in two parts. The first, more properly historical-philosophical and historical-conceptual, is aimed at a critical reconstruction of the Marxian concept of nature through his works of the 'early period,' starting from and in permanent comparison with the philosophies of Hegel and Feuerbach, in order to trace elements of continuity and difference and finally arrive at an adequate understanding of the orginiality of the Marxian position. The second part of the paper is devoted to the analysis of the Marxian "Foundations of the Critique of Political Economy" (1857-59) or "Grundrisse" by testing the hold or conceptual non-holding of some recent criticisms levelled at the Trier thinker around his supposed anti-ecological and dogmatically "progressive" "productivism" and "Prometheanism." To respond to the questions raised in the contemporary debate, I have carried out a close analysis of the concepts of "production," "consumption," "development of the productive forces," etc., paying particular attention to the neglected category of "social metabolism" in order to restore a more synoptic and radical view of Marxian theses beyond any reductionist interpretation of a technicist or economistic kind.

Abstract
The thesis is structured in two parts. The first, more properly historical-philosophical and historical-conceptual, is aimed at a critical reconstruction of the Marxian concept of nature through his works of the 'early period,' starting from and in permanent comparison with the philosophies of Hegel and Feuerbach, in order to trace elements of continuity and difference and finally arrive at an adequate understanding of the orginiality of the Marxian position. The second part of the paper is devoted to the analysis of the Marxian "Foundations of the Critique of Political Economy" (1857-59) or "Grundrisse" by testing the hold or conceptual non-holding of some recent criticisms levelled at the Trier thinker around his supposed anti-ecological and dogmatically "progressive" "productivism" and "Prometheanism." To respond to the questions raised in the contemporary debate, I have carried out a close analysis of the concepts of "production," "consumption," "development of the productive forces," etc., paying particular attention to the neglected category of "social metabolism" in order to restore a more synoptic and radical view of Marxian theses beyond any reductionist interpretation of a technicist or economistic kind.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
